RMIT signage case study | Adherettes

RMIT University

Adherettes built a unique, custom-built moving LED way-finding signage system to act as an entrance statement for RMIT’s Swanston Academic building 80. The sheer size of the unit, and its location above escalators, required well considered assembly, delivery and installation.

This project included two high level signs protruding over the building façade along Swanston Street mounted 40mm from the glass balustrade. The signs required a high level of detail given the close proximity of viewing from the landing behind the sign.

With complex 3D forms on the rear, this project presented design, manufacturing and illumination challenges. Significant research and prototyping allowed for a sign face solution that met client corporate logo guidelines and read consistently in colour to the anodised architectural façade surround by day, while still allowing white illumination at night.
